THE MATRIX & CHRIST

Are you a fan of the Matrix movie? I remember watching it back in 1999 and I was simply awe struck by how Hollywood use biblical terms and narrative in the movie to depict the existence of parallel consciousness, one is of a world that is computer generated and another of an actual world and the need for a Saviour.

The question posed in this movie is which of these two worlds is an actual reality and what would it cost you to cross over into and live in the actual reality of complete freedom, power, dominion and hope.

I see a lot of these similarities in our own lives in which we seemingly all live in a world that is almost like a make believe world that is ruled by Satan and governed by world leaders that are hell bent on enforcing dictatorial rules on all humanity while most of the world is oblivious of the unseen world around us.

Truth be told we are not to be blamed for being oblivious to anything other then what we have been accustomed to from our birth into this world that we are currently living in of which we have our being and livelihood.

Going back to the movie, we see that the actual world that everyone lived in was not actually a reality but a projection of a simulated world that is made to look and feel real but was a made up lie by the people in power to disguise it from the real and the actual world which was off limits to the people and it was securely guarded by sentinels that had the power and ability to destroy anyone who would try to cross from one reality to the other.

How ironic is this? As compared to our world or our realty here on earth, the Bible gives us evidence of a spirit world around us and in the second heaven where the Devil and his angels rule and these are the ones that are in opposition to us knowing the true reality of our existence.

Ephesians 6:12 - For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

In the movie the main character known as Neo is supposedly the one chosen to be a saviour of the true world reality that's being oppressed and persecuted by the sentinels so as to destroy those who are awaken to the truth of the existence of a parallel reality or a true reality.

So Neo was given the opportunity to choose between the truth from the lie by choosing between the blue pill and the red pill, the choice between freeing your mind? Or live in blissful ignorance? Neo choose the red pill that signified the solution for knowing the real truth in life.

Coming back to our reality here on earth, we to have been given an opportunity to make a choice between our reality and God's reality and for those of us who made the life changing decision to come under the blood (red coloured pill) of Jesus Christ and accept Him as their true Saviour, we have come to see the true reality that exist beyond the physical realities of our world.

In the movie Matrix, after Neo took the red pill he was put into a deep sleep like in an environment of an embryonic womb of a mother connected to life giving nutrients from tubes that sustained him and he later woke up like a new born baby coming out of his mother's womb to a new reality of a world he never knew before or experienced or thought existed where he now had the ability and power to bring to reality endless possibilities within himself for the good of his new world reality.

This is also true for us when we become a Christian and come into the fellowship of Christ as our Saviour and Lord, we become a new creation born a new the second time in the spirit as a new born child of God baptized in water and born of His spirit we are brought into a new reality of a world previously nonexistent and unknown to us and most of humanity.

This new reality introduces us to the workings of God's spirit through us, empowering us to become more then we can ever be,

Romans 8:37 - yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

2 Corinthians 4:7 - We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure.

Ephesians 3:20 - Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.

Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through him who strengthens me. This makes it very clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.

In the movie Matrix, the character Neo ventures to find out all that is to know about this true reality of his and what it holds for his future, as he learns how to apply the power that is available to him against his enemies and the enemy of his new world reality that is threatened by the sentinel to destroy him and all living in it.

We can relate to this truth in our very own walk with God as a believer in Jesus Christ, we to are threatened and continually targeted for destruction by the devil and it's demons that continually plot against us to defeat our faith.

2 Corinthians 4:9 - persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed and in

1 Peter 5:8 - Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

The devil is a liar and a thief and he's only desire is to kill, steal and destroy all that is of God for we are His creation and made in His image,

Genesis 1:27 - So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

The devil's objective is to derail our destiny and purpose in Christ and this will result in us losing our focus on the true reality and to instead shift our focus on to worldly matters of no eternal worth and that is the reality that Satan has built for those living on earth for he is the god of this world who blinds and distracts humanity from the true reality that is in Christ, he deceives all humanity by causing them to believe in this false reality which is a lie and a deception in order for him sit as king and lord over your life and receive your worship indirectly without your knowledge. The devil knows if he succeeds in shifting your focus away from Christ he will in turn make you to be an idolater. For anything that takes the place of God in your life is idolatry and is a sin against the true living God, this is his deception and many are swayed into his world of make believe when the true reality is in Christ.

1 John 2:16-17 - For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

In the movie, Neo sets out to destroy the sentinels and bring down their grip on the true reality of his world by harnessing all that is within him and by working with his team of warriors they devise an elaborate plan to once and for all rid the real world of this vicious sentinels and this plan will require of him to sacrifice himself for the greater good of his people and the world.

In the very day we give our lives over to our Saviour Jesus Christ, we are enlisted in His army as His warrior for His Kingdom.

Ephesians 6:10-18 - Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armour so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

Jesus Christ becomes our general known as the Lord of Host in the heavenly army

Psalm 24:10 - Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory! and He equips us with power to defeat the enemy.

Luke 10:19 - Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.

It is now our duty as Christians to study and know our enemy and his strategies in order for us to defeat him and his demons, and so we are to equip ourselves with spiritual knowledge for warfare as our very lives, faith and eternal destiny depend on it. This is the very reason we have been baptized in the Spirit and given a spiritual language that is only known to God (a code language) so as to paralyse and confuse the enemy and send out heavy artillery against him and his camp.

1 Corinthians 14:2 - For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit.

Even as the character Neo understood that there was a cost to pay for freedom and that he had to sacrifice his life for true liberty, we to are also called to lay down our lives as did our General and Lord Jesus Christ;

John 15:13 - There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

John 12:24 - I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.

Revelation 1:18 - I am the living one. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.

As a true disciple of Jesus Christ our Lord we are called to a life of sacrifice,

Galatians 5:24 - Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.

Luke 9:23 - Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.

Matthew 16:24-26 - Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?

In conclusion to the Matrix movie, the character Neo's sacrifice of his life gained him victory and a greater power over his enemies and he also gained immortality. We as Christians have this real assurance in Christ of immortality.

1 Corinthians 15:54 - When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” we must never give in to fear of death as we have an assurance of eternal life.

Matthew 10:28 - “Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

John 10:28-30 - I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.”

Our future in Christ is one of great glory and honour,

Daniel 7:27 - Then the sovereignty, power, and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be given to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will last forever, and all rulers will serve and obey him.”

2 Timothy 2:12 - If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.

We will have immortality and we will never die and live forever with Christ,

1 Corinthians 15:53 - For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.

1 Corinthians 15:55 - O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?

In a final blow to the enemy of our soul the devil we are given total victory when Jesus our Lord comes to judge and destroy the old serpent who is called the devil, the one who deceives the whole world.

John 12:31 - Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out.

Revelation 19:11-21 - Then I saw heaven opened, and a white horse was standing there. Its rider was named Faithful and True, for he judges fairly and wages a righteous war. His eyes were like flames of fire, and on his head were many crowns. A name was written on him that no one understood except himself. He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his title was the Word of God. The armies of heaven, dressed in the finest of pure white linen, followed him on white horses. From his mouth came a sharp sword to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will release the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty, like juice flowing from a winepress. On his robe at his thigh was written this title: King of all kings and Lord of all lords.

Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, shouting to the vultures flying high in the sky: “Come! Gather together for the great banquet God has prepared. Come and eat the flesh of kings, generals, and strong warriors; of horses and their riders; and of all humanity, both free and slave, small and great.”

Then I saw the beast and the kings of the world and their armies gathered together to fight against the one sitting on the horse and his army. And the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who did mighty miracles on behalf of the beast—miracles that deceived all who had accepted the mark of the beast and who worshiped his statue. Both the beast and his false prophet were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. Their entire army was killed by the sharp sword that came from the mouth of the one riding the white horse. And the vultures all gorged themselves on the dead bodies.

We have already been given the Victory, we know how the story ends in the true reality of our God and we know that if we truly hold fast to His word in this life and live a life of total submission to the King of Kings we know that we will also rule and reign with Him in total victory.

Revelation 5:10, - "You have made them into a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign upon the earth.'"

Rise up and claim your inheritance and never do as Esau did in the Bible where he sold his birthright and inheritance.

1 Peter 1:4 - and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.

This world that we are living in today is only a mirage and is temporal.

2 Corinthians 4:18 - while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. Let us not looking on to the things of the world as though it is eternal and of worth.

1 Peter 2:11-12 - beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, having your conduct honourable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Our mission and objective here on earth is to build the Kingdom of God here and bring the reality of Jesus to those blinded by Satan, so Jesus becomes real to the natural world and all those who live in the sway and clutches of the devil may partake of the true reality of heaven that has been cloaked from the mind of humanity by the devil. We are God's representative here on earth to bring enlightenment to a deceived and fallen world.

Our task as enlightened believers of Jesus Christ is one of great responsibility and only a handful of us will truly qualify to undertake this glorious task.

Will you be the one to say, yes Lord I will! I am hopeful and do believe you will take up this mission and go into all the world and spread the good news of God's true reality and bring light where there was darkness and truth where there was deception for you are a chosen vessel of the Lord able to do great exploits through Jesus Christ your Lord and Saviour.

May this article challenge you to be more than you have ever been in His Kingdom and be a doer of His word and not just a listener who's only deceiving yourself.
